The University track and field team competed at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, over the weekend. On Friday, sophomore Chris Hill shattered the University's javelin record with the world's seventh-best throw in 2008. Career milestones and season goals were achieved for the Georgia Bulldogs softball team in a weekend sweep of the Kentucky Wildcats. Georgia (42-19, 13-12 SEC) defeated Kentucky (17-34, 3-22 SEC) twice on Saturday, 10-0 and 7-3, and in the process delivered head coach Lu Harris-Champer her 400th victory as the Bulldogs' coach. … 1 Comment
After Friday's Super Six title, the Gym Dogs took home two more NCAA National Championships Saturday, as Grace Taylor won the balance beam and Courtney McCool won floor exercise in the individual event championships. Anybody who thinks college gymnastics is an individual sport would have been well served to watch 15 minutes of the NCAA National Championship. For gymnasts such as Southern Utah's Elise Wheeler, Thursday's team preliminary was a lonely place.
