Georgia fans remember John Isner for giving the University's tennis team four incredible years of play from 2003-07, but on Dec. 12 he will be giving the entire Athens community an event unlike any other. Beginning at 2:30 p.m., Isner will join tennis stars Serena Williams, Melanie Oudin and Sam Querrey in Stegeman Coliseum for Rock-n-Racquets, a tennis exhibition featuring some of the greatest players in the world with a musical component woven throughout the evening.
Georgia Swimming and Diving had an impressive win for both teams Wednesday night against Emory University at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. With a sweep by the men and women, Georgia Swimming and Diving is off to a good start for the week. The Lady Bulldogs pulled away with an impressive victory, posting a score of 145-92, improving their home win streak to 67 straight since the 1995-96 season.
The fallout continues, even four days after Florida beat Georgia. On Wednesday, Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes suspended himself a full game for his attempt to gouge the eyes of Bulldogs' tailback Washaun Ealey. Florida coach Urban Meyer initially suspended Spikes for the first half of the upcoming Vanderbilt game, but Spikes said he didn't, "want to be a distraction to the team.
Two first half goals weren't enough for Georgia's soccer team Wednesday night in Orange Beach, Ala., as the Bulldogs' late, one-goal lead slipped away after two South Carolina goals in the final 10 minutes of play propelled the Gamecocks into the second round of SEC Tournament play, 3-2.
