Richt encourages Dogs' proven energy
Before the final practice of the week Thursday, head coach Mark Richt said that the goal has been to keep momentum from Saturday's win going."It's really kind of amazing that the season is just about over," he said. "It's less than a month for the regular season. We've been up and down and up and down. Now we want to try and stay up. That's the mission this week - to try and keep it going."
Richt added that he plans on dressing the entire team for Saturday's game with Troy.
Injured players may recover by Auburn
Richt said that injured wide receiver Sean Bailey could possibly play this weekend, adding that defensive back Kelin Johnson and tailback Thomas Brown wouldn't play Saturday but could possibly participate in the Auburn game.Volleyball determined to repay earlier losses
With six matches remaining in the season, the Georgia volleyball team will enter this weekend's action with determination in its eyes and revenge on its mind. The Bulldogs (14-10, 5-9) will play host to Alabama (14-9, 11-3) and Mississippi State (10-13, 5-9) this weekend with a chance to avenge earlier losses this season to both teams.
The team will first host Alabama, which stands first in the SEC West and second in the conference behind Florida.
In their last meeting, the Bulldogs were able to take the first game of their match against the Tide, but were unable to sustain momentum as the team lost in four games.
The Bulldogs have shown much improvement this season as opposed to last year's squad, but head coach Joel McCartney sees no room for moral victories.
"Win - there is no other goal," he said. "We set out to win every night, every game - win and play our best."
The Bulldogs dropped a 3-1 match to Mississippi State in early October, a loss that McCartney called "disappointing, because we came into that game with a lot of confidence."
Georgia and Mississippi State are tied for sixth in the conference.
"We owe Mississippi State one," McCartney said.
