'Atonement' fails to live up to expectations

By BRIAN HUGHES

At the crossroads moment of Joe Wright's "Atonement," Keira Knightley whispers "come back to me" to her lover (James McAvoy) as he slips away from her arms, destined for war - his sentence for a crime he didn't commit. About the Out & About cover

For the cover story about the Miss UGA Pageant, I took a lesson from Editor in Chief Juanita Cousins in the recent oddities and strange tactics of pageantry - Miss America's run-in with the law, a pepper sprayed sabotage during the Miss Universe contest and Miss Teen South Carolina's unfortunate mapping logic. … 1 Comment

The good, the bad and the morbid of '08

The ink isn't even dry on many "best of" lists from 2007, but it's time to start looking ahead to what could develop in 2008. Last year had its ups and downs, and there's no reason to expect anything different in this calendar year.
