Athens-Clarke County Police arrested University employee Ahmad Daftarian and charged him with the aggravated stalking of his 19-year-old son at Circuit City.

According to the ACC police report:

Daftarian is not allowed to contact his son, his other children or their mother because of a temporary protection order. The document, issued in Jackson County, forbids Daftarian from coming within 500 feet. On Thursday, Daftarian approached his son, a University student, at Circuit City and attempted to coerce him to leave so they could "talk elsewhere." When Daftarian was unsuccessful, he left the store. The son called his mother and ACC Police.

Both the mother and police arrived at the store, and the mother gave police a copy of the protection order, which confirmed that Daftarian violated the order.

Daftarian returned to the scene and pulled into the Huddle House parking lot, approximately 100 to 125 yards away from the officer, his son and the woman.

After stating he was sent by his lawyer to give his son a subpoena, Daftarian was placed under arrest. He was taken to the West Police Department at 9:30 p.m. Thursday and transported to the Clarke County Jail in the morning.

Daftarian is an air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic for Brumby Hall.
