The Georgia men's basketball team suffered a let down Wednesday night after losing its fourth straight game, but hours later life grew a little worse for one of its players.

Point guard Billy Humphrey was arrested at 2:12 a.m. Thursday and charged with underage possession and failure to obey a traffic control device by the Athens Clarke County police. He posted $1,000 bond and was released at 3:45 a.m.

It was Humphrey's second arrest this school year. He was charged Nov. 13 with felony possession of a weapon on school property after University police arrived at his East Campus dorm room with a search warrant on suspicion of marijuana. No drugs were found in the room, but a butterfly knife was located,

The University announced Thursday afternoon that Humphrey has been suspended for a minimum of three games in compliance with
University Athletic Association policy. He will miss the Bulldogs' contest at Florida Saturday, as well as home games next week against South Carolina (Feb. 13) and Tennessee (Feb. 16).

Because the arrest may have violated the terms of his one-year probation with the University Judiciary following the weapons charge, Humphrey could be suspended from the University. He was suspended indefinitely from the basketball team following the weapons charge, but was reinstated a few weeks later.

On the weapons charge, Humphrey was required to perform 80 hours of community service and to stay out of trouble for 18 months.

Humphrey is the team's second-leading scorer this season, averaging 13.1 points a game, and he rates second on the team in steals with 34. The latest set back for Humphrey continues a difficult season for the Bulldogs. In Fall, junior guard Mike Mercer was dismissed from the team for "being a disruption to the team," while eading scorer Takais Brown was released Oct. 26 for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

If Felton could recruit correctly, he would have known this was coming.

All Felton's fault!

Fire Felton!

So "staying out of trouble" means to party on and not obey traffic rules. No sympathy from me, I'm afraid.

this is a bad situation, but i don't think that billy deserves to be suspended by the university due to this arrest. i know that it more than likely violates the terms of his probation and he is responsible for his actions, but i feel this arrest should be treated as a first offense. (Continued…)

The real problem is Felton! Felton probably told the team after the game they suck and the season was over and then started blaming all the problems on Harrick. (Continued…)

felton isn't the problem either. felton came into a bad situation from the start and sadly some of the players he has recruited haven't been making the best decisions. (Continued…)

Hey Student,

You are clearly Billy Humphrey so stop pretending under that awful alias. You deserved to be suspended for two reasons. One, you are not very good at basketball and 2, you play for Dennis Felton. (Continued…)

I just read on the other BBall article that Coach Dennis Felton is an Atheist and does not allow them to pray before games. If this is true, there is your problem. (Continued…)

Are you people crazy!!! Recruit correctly, what the hell are y'all talking about? There is no way Dennis Felton could have seen this coming! There is only one person to blame, Billy Humphrey! He is the one who was charged with "underage possession and failure to obey a traffic control device," and he is the one who was charged with "felony possession of a weapon on school property. Dear Billy,

Yo, South Florida is nice as hell. You would really like Tampa, homey. There's warm weather, beautiful girls, and no soulless mustache-clad atheistic dictator screaming down your throat. (Continued…)
