Georgia 85, Florida 66

For the second time this season, a showdown with the Lady Gators seemed to be the cure for the ailing Lady Bulldogs, who recorded an 85-66 victory Thursday at Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia (18-7, 5-5 SEC) snapped its negative momentum with a much needed win over Florida (15-10, 4-6).

Senior forward Tasha Humphrey's opening 3-pointer moved her past Coco Miller for fourth all-time on the Georgia scoring list.

She finished with a season-high 32 points, and her 11 rebounds made her the fourth Lady Bulldog to record over 1,000 career boards.

"It means a lot because it says what kind of teammates I've played with here in my career," Humphrey said. "They've always done a good job of getting me the ball where I could score, and everything I do I credit to them."

Humphrey and sophomore Angela Puleo teamed up for a pair of pivotal back-to-back 3-pointers after Florida cut an early Georgia lead back to 24-23, putting some distance between the squads that would remain for the rest of the night.

"It seemed like every time they cut it back from 20 to 10, we answered back with a three or a two and we got big separation quickly," head coach Andy Landers said.

Georgia tallied 13 turnovers, well below their average of 18 in conference games.

The win brings Georgia back to the .500 mark in conference play, but is still in sixth in the SEC standings.

"You cross your fingers at this point and hope that somebody helps you out because we can't drive ourselves," Landers said. "We want to beat Mississippi State and hope somebody in front of us gets beat."

The Lady Bulldogs play Mississippi State Sunday at 3 p.m in Starkville.
