Some liberties must be invaded
Melissa Weinman's Thursday column was nothing more than typical liberal hypocrisy.I find it infuriating that every liberal on earth is up in arms every time they feel their civil liberties are infringed upon - whether it's drinking on Sundays, the Patriot Act or monitoring for child pornography. What I find more intrusive is the fact that so many liberals see no problem with raising taxes so we can fund their liberal social programs.
And I'm not sure how long you have lived here in Georgia, but Christianity is a little bit more than "just a quirky vestige of days past." If you really need a glass of Jack Daniels so badly on a Sunday, you are more than welcome to move to a state that is more "forward thinking" such as California or New York. I'm sure that I could get a few more than 30,000 people to agree.

The point is not that we "need" a glass of Jack Daniels on Sunday, it is that you shouldn't have the right to tell me that I can't have one.
Christianity certainly isn't a quirky vestige of days past, in that you are correct. (Continued…)

Just like liberals shouldn't have the right to take money from others to pay for their pet projects. (Continued…)

Personally, I don't see how funding liberal projects and horrendously violating civil rights relate. There are a number of people out there concerned with what the current administration is getting away with- spying on its people (and the IMMUNITY then granted!), the Patriot Act, and others that infringe upon my rights as a citizen. (Continued…)

A few things you might want to think about:
1. The law does not prohibit drinking on Sundays, only the sale of alcohol in stores.
2. People can still go out to a restaurant and drink alcohol on a Sunday, where if they so choose, they can get drunk and then drive, endangering others. (Continued…)

Here's my deal. I hate when someone so flippantly throws their rights to the wind. Yes, liberals support stupid things with taxes. But conservatives keep us from enjoying freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. (Continued…)

Hello, Jon Gardner. I would wager that you voted for the notoriously liberal president George W. Bush. Did he not just sign into law a huge increase in welfare with the stimulus package? Do you also realize he has caused more debt than any previous president, while causing the largest increases in overall government spending ever? He has also removed your right to a trial and removed the need for a warrant to spy on you. (Continued…)

I dont really think its a big deal. I think if people want to drink on Sunday...good for them. If you have the right...great...if you dont...buy it on saturday enough for sunday! I do kind of agree though. (Continued…)
