Standing ovation
The underdawgs everyone was talking about fell to Xavier Thursday afternoon. The game was hard-fought, but our beloved Bulldogs were unable to keep up at the end. Although the Dogs are out of the tournament and many fans' brackets have been disrupted, we are proud of the men's basketball team for making it as far as they did. Thanks to the team for pushing the general student body to care about Georgia basketball again.

Looking ahead
Though the Bulldog nation may be bummed about the men's basketball team's exit from the NCAA tourney, the Lady Bulldogs begin their run to the Final Four Sunday in Norfolk, Va. against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Lady Bulldogs have been playing consistently well during head coach Andy Landers' tenure, and they deserve just as much praise as the men. Go Dogs and good luck!

Pay attention
Early Thursday afternoon, a student riding a bike was hit by a car traveling on Baxter Street and taken to the hospital. If you will be driving on or near campus, it is important to be extra vigilant for pedestrians and bike riders. And if an accident does occur, be a responsible adult and don't flee the scene.

Spring-time emergency
It's reassuring to know UGA Alert does work, even if it is when campus is virtually empty. During spring break, many students, faculty and staff received text messages, phone calls and e-mails about a tornado warning in Athens-Clarke County. Let's see if the University can be as thorough the next time a building holding hundreds of people receives a bomb threat.

Every drop counts, still
Don't let Wednesday's rain fool you - the drought is far from over. Although the water restrictions have been reduced slightly for permit-holders, take care not to overuse the instant you see precipitation. Some suggestions: Don't run the sink while washing dishes or your face. Take shorter showers, or just double up with your significant other - both resourceful and fun.

Meet the pizza
Ever wonder why we do what we do? The Red & Black is holding an open forum for students Tuesday at 6 p.m. Come on up and chat with us - oh, and we'll have free pizza as a reward for making your way up Baxter hill. Hope to see you then!

Quote of the week: "We had nothing to lose. And nothing was worth being an excuse - the injuries, the fatigue, any of that. At any given point in time it didn't matter. We just knew we had 20 more minutes, 15 more minutes, 10 more minutes to play to win this championship and shock the world, and that was on our mind, and we did it."

- Junior men's basketball guard Billy Humphrey said of the team's SEC Championship win on Sunday
