The Georgia women's swimming and diving team finished seventh in the NCAA championships on Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Ohio State's campus. The team tallied 198 points with strong efforts from a young team consisting of seven freshman. Arizona's 484 points took first and its first ever NCAA Championship.
"Our kids did a heck of a job," Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said in a news release. "It wasn't a perfect meet, but if you had told me beforehand that we'd finish seventh with seven freshmen, we would have taken it."
On Saturday, freshman Kelsey Ditto finished third in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:59.01, ranking her second all-time in the Georgia record book for the event.
Sophomore Annie Broome and senior Elizabeth Hill finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly.
Broome had a time of 1:57.32 in the final after going 1:56.33 in prelims for the third-best time in school history.
