- Lecture: Hilbert's Tenth Problem. Sponsored by the Department of Mathematics. The second lecture of the 14th Annual Cantrell Lectures, delivered by Bjorn Poonen. In 1900, Hilbert dreamed that someday there would be a general method for solving all diophantine equations, but in 1970 it was proved that no such method exists.
