The annual competition will be played June 26-27 in Scotland as the U.S. collegians face their counterparts from Europe. The Glasgow Golf Club Gailes Links will host the event.
Joining Mitchell on the U.S. team will be UCLA's Kevin Chappell, Louisville's Derek Fathauer, Oklahoma State's Rickie Fowler, San Diego State's Aaron Goldberg, Georgia Tech's Chesson Hadley, Florida's Billy Horschel and Alabama's Michael Thompson.
Anytime you're chosen to represent your country, it's an honor, Georgia head coach Chris Haack said. "This is quite an accomplishment for [Mitchell]. He has worked extremely hard in college and now is recognized as one of the best players in the country. We are all so proud of him."
Mitchell leads the Bulldogs with a 72.09 scoring average, including five top-10 tournament finishes. He placed seventh at the SEC Championship last weekend.
The U.S. leads the competition 6-4-1, but lost the last two competitions in Europe. The last win abroad came in 2002 when Haack served as team captain.
