- UGA Relay For Life. Benefiting the American Cancer Society. Rock out to block out cancer! After a year of fundraising, Relay For Life will remember those lost to cancer, celebrate cancer survivors and fight back against the disease. Join more than 2,300 University students for a night of fundraising, food and great entertainment. Featuring Mama's Love, DJ Mays and Velvet Runway. - UGA Athens Twilight Jazz Festival. Sponsored by the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. A jazz festival offering clinics and master classes for instrumental and vocal bands from middle school to college and community levels. - Multi-Disciplinary Symposium: Brazilian-Americans in Georgia and Beyond. Sponsored by the Latin American & Caribbean Studies Institute, the Office of Public Service and Outreach, the Department of Romance Languages, and Center for Latin American and Latino/a Studies at Georgia State University. A conference addressing the phenomenon of Brazilian immigration to the United States, with special focus on this community's significant presence in the state of Georgia. Topics to be discussed include culture, immigration, race, class and gender.
