Diamond Dogs drop SEC tourney opener to Ole Miss

Ole Miss junior Lance Lynn struck out a career-high 12 over 6.2 innings to lead the Rebels to a 4-1 win over sixth-ranked Georgia at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. Wednesday.
Georgia (35-20-1 play in an elimination game today at 1 p.m. CDT. They will face Alabama. With the win, Ole Miss improves to 35-22. Lynn and Scott Bittle combined to record 15 strikeouts and limit the Bulldogs to six hits. Lynn got the win to move to 7-3 while Bittle notched his eighth save.
"We got beat by two All-SEC pitchers in Lynn and Bittle," said Georgia coach David Perno. "We couldn't take advantage of a couple of walks and we didn't get the big hit."
"They jumped out early and rode their ace," Ryan Peisel added. "We knew early he had his good stuff and it was going to be a tough night. We had some quality at bats and got some good pitching, we just didn't get the base hit when we had chances to score."
