The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra promises concert-goers a new interactive experience.

Located in Alpharetta, the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park is home to the orchestra and boasts features unique to the venue, including the ability to text message questions to the conductor and members of the orchestra during intermission. Questions and video responses are displayed on a screen for the audience.

The ASO gives a pre-concert talk half an hour before the concert begins. Audience members have the opportunity to discuss pieces and meet with select members of the orchestra.

"Part of what we try to do is provide an entry-way in," said Charlie Wade, vice president of marketing.

The venue is decorated and concessions are cooked to match the theme of the music the orchestra is performing that night.

Although it is operated by the ASO, the amphitheater hosts big-name rock acts such as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Eagles and Rush have performed. Boston and O.A.R. are scheduled for this fall.
