A dispatcher at the University Police Department has resigned following his arrest for his alleged actions Wednesday night at The Exchange, an apartment complex off Mitchell Bridge Road.

Athens-Clarke police arrested Wayne Douglas Slagle, 27, and charged him with three misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and one misdemeanor count each of simple assault and public drunkenness.

The Athens Banner-Herald reported Slagle chased after cars entering the complex and beat parked cars, including a car holding two female University students. The women told officers they were entering the complex when Slagle charged the car in a threatening way, but they avoided him by speeding off, police told the Banner-Herald.

The Banner-Herald reported a friend told officers that Slagle was drinking alcohol and crunk juice (liquor and energy drink), but the man told them he drank "too much strawberry vodka and 151," an apparent reference to 151-proof liquor.

The Athens Banner-Herald contributed to this report.
