Are away game student sections empty this season?

To my disappointment, I, like many others, was not awarded away tickets.

This made me think what a truly sad reflection this is of the priorities of our "great" University. To wait anxiously for your senior year so you may have a slight chance of being awarded one ticket and then to be turned down truly shows what our value as hard working students means in the eyes of the higher (and much richer) powers.

Since every person I have talked to is in the same position, I would like to know how many students actually will be in the student section at away games representing the thousands of us who won't have that chance.

With so many students having their requests turned down, I find it hard to believe the ticket office truly "regrets," or will even think twice about, those who will not be at the games.

Direct anger to ticketing office

Wow, Parker Morgan, wow. I understand your irritation with the ticket distribution process, but you take bitter to a whole new level.

I understand your frustration, but reporting scalpers to the ticketing office AND damning them to hell? Isn't that a little overboard?

Perhaps you should direct your ire toward the people who denied you a ticket in the first place - the ticketing office.

Honestly, how can you ask broke college students to turn down the offers they receive for these tickets? A couple hundred dollars can go a long way and is worth more than the satisfaction of selling the ticket for a fair price to a fellow student.

Seniors deserve season packages

Could someone please tell me who is getting these away game tickets?

Is it the fifth year seniors who smoked too much pot in Russell and never went to class? Is it the students stretching daddy's generosity for an extra football season when they could have graduated in May? Or is it the graduate students who are too busy with class to go to away games and end up selling their tickets on WebCT for $200?

I'd just like to know who's allocating the away (and home for that matter) tickets because, as a senior graduating on time, I still have never received one away ticket. Not one.

It's a four year undergraduate experience (in most cases), and I think the seniors are the most deserving of a full season package.

Laziness rewarded with best tickets

This is my fourth year at the University. I have 96 credit hours and am a full-time student currently taking 16 hours.

So, my question then stands: why in my entire college career have I not gotten a single away ticket?

I understand demand is high this year, but this will be my last year here, and I was kind of hoping to at least get a Florida ticket.

What exactly is the hour requirement to get these tickets? I was told the cut off for Auburn was around 118 hours. 118!? Who has that many hours?

Should I have blown off class and lowered my GPA? At least then I could stick around for six years or so, collect 140 hours of bogus classes and get some away tickets. Now I have to scalp, and if we're undefeated going into that game I can't even dream of the price those tickets are going to go for. Just another year and another complaint, I know. Congratulations all you fifth and sixth year seniors, your indecisiveness and laziness have finally paid off ... go Dogs.

University helping 'fifth year scum'

It is ridiculous that my friends and I, who will be graduating on time in May, have not received any away game tickets this year.

We have taken full course loads, studied abroad and made a good effort to graduate on time, yet we are unable to even attend the Florida game.

Instead, the Athletic Association has thrown away football tickets to fifth year scum. These students are too stupid to graduate on time and are trying to milk in another football season.

How can a University intent on increasing its academic rigor blatantly reward those who have taken the easy way out?

Luckily, I will be graduating on time; unfortunately, I will not be around for another football season.

All of you may be graduating on time, but you sound like a bunch of 3rd graders.

I find it rather sad that so many upset seniors are throwing around insults towards fellow students. I hate to look at statistics because they can be very misleading, but the average student in college is now attending school for longer than the traditional 4 years. (Continued…)

Frederic Behrens needs to understand something: being 'fifth year scum' sometimes can not be helped. Now granted, those individuals who purposefully delay graduation for another season between the hedges are upsetting, but the majority of 'fifth year scum' are ultra hard working students. 5th Year Scum

Frederic,
I was one of those "5th Year Scum" you wrote about and I must say you are an idiot. True, I did take an extra semester to graduate on my own accord. (Continued…)

I guess I'm scum because I will be graduating in 4.5 years. I changed my major from business to journalism, which takes two full years to complete. HOPE is paying every penny of this extra semester though and I got tickets to all the home and away games, except Auburn. (Continued…)

It's been said before, but I REALLY don't appreciate being called "fifth-year scum." You have no idea what kind of circumstances most fifth-year students are in. (Continued…)
