The Georgia women's soccer team huffed and puffed, but it was all for naught against the Virginia Cavaliers Friday night.

Despite keeping the game scoreless for the majority of the match, the Bulldogs fell by a score of 1-0.

"I felt like we were pretty solid in the back," said senior defender Kristin Garman. "They (Virginia) definitely had their chances, but I feel like we stayed in the game."

The Bulldog defense fought throughout the night, and junior goalkeeper Michelle Betos came up huge when the defense was breached. Betos recorded 10 saves on the evening.

However, Virginia's Kelly Quinn nodded home a corner kick in the 69th minute to give the Cavaliers the 1-0 win.

Despite the narrow loss, head coach Patrick Baker said he was pleased with his team's resiliency.

"I'm proud of the effort," Baker said. "I do feel like there was a lot of conviction in that starting lineup. I felt like the starting 11 did a great job."

The Bulldogs have a chance to rebound from the loss when they take on No. 7 Stanford at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the UGA Soccer Complex
