For Jamie Hunt, avenging his tennis defeat to Georgia Tech's Guillermo Gomez was one of his goals heading into the Georgia Tech Invitational. Unforunately, Gomez was held out of the competition to prepare for the All-American Championships beginning on Thursday.
So Hunt took down Gomez's temmate, Miguel Muguruza, in straight sets in the semi-finals before handing Georgia State's Nejc Podkrajsck the same fate to win the tournament.
Hunt entered as the No. 1 seed, and 23rd nationally, and played like it as he improved his singles record to 11-1 on the year.
Hunt and teammate Nate Schnugg will both compete in the All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., beginning on Thursday.
Unfortunately for freshmen Chelsey Gullickson, Nadja Gilchrist, and the women's tennis team, that day came on Friday at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Gullickson was defeated by 14th-ranked Laura Vallverdu of Miami (FL) and Gilchrist was ousted by 40th-ranked Catherine Newman of Vanderbilt.
Picchetti led the Lady Bulldog cross country team for the third straight meet, and finished 11th overall in a season best time of 16:44.37 at the Tiger Invitational in Auburn, Ala., on Saturday.
Georgia finished fourth with 168 points and first amongst Southeastern conference schools as Washington (19)won the meet.
As she has all season, freshman Kristie Krueger finished on the heels of Picchetti in a time of 17:17.06.
On the men's side of the course, the Bulldogs ran their way to a sixth place finish.
Senior Ross Ridgewell led the team as he placed 22nd overall in the men's 8K clocking a time of 23:40.97.
