Georgia House Bill 859, which would allow weapons carry permit holders to legally carry firearms on state college campuses, passed the Senate Friday by a 37-17 vote.
The bill now goes to Governor Nathan Deal for a signature. Deal has previously indicated that he supports the bill.
The bill, if signed into law, would allow permit holders to carry weapons everywhere on campus, except residence halls, fraternity and sorority houses and sporting venues.
The bill previously passed the House Feb. 22.
