A woman lit a seat cushion on fire on the porch of a residence on West Broad Street on Dec. 2 around 2 a.m., according to an Athens-Clarke County Police Department press release.
The woman lit the cushion on fire after the residents refused to let her in when she demanded to see an acquaintance, the report said. She left the scene after lighting the cushion on fire.
According to the press release, one of the residents threw the cushion from the porch to the sidewalk, and the responding officer put the fire out with his fire extinguisher. ACC Fire and Emergency Services were not dispatched.
ACCPD arrested the woman and transported her to the Clarke County Jail, according to the press release. The woman was charged with first degree arson and barred from Athens Housing Authority property.
