There are 279 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Athens-Clarke County as of 7 p.m. Friday, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The University of Georgia is aware of 41 students or employees who have tested positive as of May 28.

The DPH has confirmed 45,863 cases and 1,984 deaths in Georgia. There have been 13 deaths and 44 hospitalizations from COVID-19 in Athens-Clarke County, according to DPH.

The department updates the number of confirmed cases and deaths in Georgia everyday at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on its website.
