Summer is finally on the horizon with finals week approaching meaning many students and locals will need an escape. What better way to do that than through a concert? With Athens music scene always keeping its residents on their toes, we compiled a few notable concerts and music festivals you won’t want to miss.

1. Girlpool and Hatchie

When: May 1, 8 p.m.

Where: 40 Watt Club

Price: $14-$16

With the recent release of Girlpool’sthird studio album,“What Chaos is Imaginary,” this Los Angeles-based duo will play the 40 Watt Clu

2. Blue October

When: May 2,8:30 p.m.

Where: Georgia Theatre

Price: $27-$30

Transforming from a darker tone, Blue October’s latest album,“I Hope You’re Happy,” brings forth a more positive tone from the group

3. White Rabbit Collective

When: May 24, 9 p.m.

Where: 40 Watt Club

Price: $5

This Athens-based group of artists strives for a more modern ’60s psychedelic-rock sound.

4. Eureka California  

When: June 15, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Georgia Theatre Rooftop

Price: Free

Also based in Athens, Eureka California will be joined by Moon Racer for this show.

 5. AthFest

When: June 21-23

Where: 40 Watt Club

Price: $10

This three-day festival is an annual celebration of Athens and regional music and will also raise awareness for the AthFest Educates nonprofit.

 6. Futurist

When: June 28, 7 p.m.

Where: Caledonia Lounge

Price: TBA

Futurist is an alt-rock, psychedelic-pop five-piece band from Brooklyn, New York, to play the Caledonia Lounge.

 7. Night Glitter

When: July 12, 8 p.m.

Where: Georgia Theatre Rooftop

Price: Free

Night Glitter, a psychedelic, synth-pop group from Austin, Texas, will play an ages 18 and up show.

 8. Ex Hex

When: July 24, 9 p.m.

Where: Georgia Theatre

Price: $13-$15

Ex Hex, a rock power trio from Washington, D.C., will headline with Spider Bags from North Carolina.

9. Sigh In July

When: July 26-27

Where: Live Wire Athens

Price: TBA

The fifth annual Sigh In July, a music and arts festival, will be held at Live Wire Athens.
