Savie Arnold

Before moving to Athens to conduct research for her Ph.D., Arnold operated a home bakery in Bangkok. Elements of her culture can be found in her East Side bakery, which features flavors such as green tea macarons. Arnold supplies desserts for local restaurants and creates custom cakes for weddings and other events.

Where do you go to eat in Athens?

I love to try out new places. The newest place I’ve gone is Maepole. I can’t wait for the new cat cafe that’s going to open It’s a great idea.

What’s a non-food place you recommend?

When I have friends in town, we take them on a campus tour, visit The Tree That Owns Itself — something that represents Athens. I usually take them to the dancing scene because I’m a dancer, too.

Any Sweetie Pie by Savie tips for special events?

I usually recommend bite-size, grab-and-go pieces like brownie bites, cake balls and cookies. If they are more adventurous, I recommend more Asian-infused flavors. If they like middle-of-the-road flavors, I say chocolate chip cookie.
