First, be proactive to prevent bugs from coming into your space.
According to the UGA Extension Service, it’s important to limit access to food by using tightly sealed containers, checking packaged food boxes, cleaning garbage disposals and avoiding dirty dishes.
Clean your space religiously, at least once a week. This includes keeping your sleeping area clean and taking out the trash.
Make sure windows without screens remain closed.
For serious bug problems, it’s recommended to spray the bottom of indoor and outdoor walls with pesticides at least once per month. If your landlord does not cover treatment or is slow getting back to you, call a company such as American Pest Control, which offers a free inspection.
