It’s happened to the best of us, and always at the worst time: your car starts making a weird noise, a check engine light comes on or the brakes go out, leaving your car in need of repair.

When you’re far from home, how do you begin to search for someone to fix these inconvenient problems?

There are many car dealerships in Athens that also serve as car shops. Look up the make of your car and see if there is a dealership nearby that can service your car. Dealerships will be more likely to have specialty parts for your specific car, but they can run higher price tags.

If there is no dealership nearby, look to more generalized auto repair shops. Searching for specific terms such as “oil change Athens” or “sensor replacement Athens” can help you find a more specialized shop.

For drivers, make sure to stay on top of oil changes and tire pressure.

For cyclists, Athens has a variety of bike mechanics and shops that can fix issues with tires, cables and gears at affordable costs.
