On Tuesday, July 7, 2020 the Athens Anti Discrimination Movement (AADM) held a nonviolent protest in downtown Athens. Organizers spoke about the removal of the Confederate moment and communicated demands regarding reform and accountability for Athens Clarke County Police. Two AADM members, Izzye Yearby, 20, and Aditya Krishnaswamy, 22, led a group of about 100 protestors in the event that lasted about an hour and a half. After chanting and receiving information on how to vote to help support the group's demands, the protestors spread out to hold signs on the sidewalks in a silent protest.
