People celebrated St. Patrick's Day in downtown Athens on Sunday, March 17, for the first-ever St. Patrick's Day Festival. A combination of state law and a decision by local bar owners kept bars in Athens open on Sunday, and both college students and families packed Clayton Street for green beer, bounce houses and traditional Irish dancers.
