Despite the heavy rain brought upon Athens, the Hot Corner Celebration and Soul Food Festival continued at full force at the World Famous on June 8, 2019. Traditionally held on the intersection of Hull and Washington, the festival is a celebration of African-American businesses and culture, and the impact it has made on the Athens’ community over the years. One of the original organizers of the festival, Homer Wilson, enjoyed the show as local artists and musicians performed for the crowd. Due to the poor weather conditions, the mural started in honor of the festival has been put on hold until further notice.
