The "Hot Corner: An Athens Legacy" mural, which was completed this summer, was celebrated with music and speakers, including Mayor Kelly Girtz, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, in Athens, Georgia. Though originally planned to be on the Morton Theatre, the mural is located at 133 East Washington St. Miami-based artist Elio Mercado, along with local artist Broderick Flanigan, worked on the mural together. The unveiling was originally scheduled for the Hot Corner Festival in June, but was delayed due to the shift in location and the storm that happened during the festival.
