University of Georgia students and employees as well as Athens community members gathered at Tate Plaza on campus for day two of the United Campus Workers of Georgia’s weeklong protests calling on the University System of Georgia to enforce stricter COVID-19 guidelines. The UGA chapter of the United Campus Workers of Georgia, American Association of University Professors and Mask On USG organized the protest demanding an indoor mask mandate and a vaccine mandate or regular testing for those with exemptions. Protestors brought handmade signs and listened to speech from UGA employees, a student and Athens medical professionals. The protests will continue throughout this week outside of the Tate Student Center.
