Historic Athens hosted the first-annual Porchfest in Athens on Sunday, Oct. 6. With an afternoon of free music by local bands, Historic Athens combined two iconic aspects of Athens culture — history and music — to showcase the beauty and importance of the city’s oldest homes. Nearly 70 bands and porches were featured Sunday afternoon, and people gathered in the historic districts of Boulevard, Newtown, Buena Vista and Pulaski Heights to listen to all different genres of music.
