On Friday afternoon, a woman was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting, identity fraud and giving false information after attempting to steal textbooks from Beat the Bookstore, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.

Officers arrived at Beat the Bookstore in reference to a shoplifting in progress with a disorderly suspect. According to the report, there was a female attempting to leave the scene in a car with a man, later identified to be her boyfriend, when officers arrived. The woman returned to the scene when instructed to do so by officers.
