After backlash from University of Georgia Housing staff and other students, UGA Housing finalized the compensation packages for resident assistants for the 2019-2020 school year.

Initially, Housing proposed to cut the monetary paycheck for RAs in half and supplement it with dining hall meal swipes and Paw Points, which Housing said was worth the same value.

After an open meeting with Housing employees on Feb. 19, Housing chose to make this change in compensation optional, an email to Housing employees said.

RAs will be able to choose if they want Package A, which is the full monetary stipend of more than $4,000, or Package B, which is about a $2,000 stipend with 105 meal swipes and $110 in Paw Points.

These options are only for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. After that, a half monetary and half meal plan stipend will become the norm for RA compensation.
